As a guide, a basic single-decoder installation starts from R800, an Explora installation from R1,200, and an Extra View setup from R1,500, with fault-finding call-outs from R550. We avoid fixing a dish into thatch — it isn't a solid base and fixings can let water in. A bracket on a solid wall or a separate pole mount near the building is usually the better option, with cable brought in discreetly.

Yes. A nearby strike can damage a decoder, LNB or TV through the power supply or the dish cable. The simplest protection is to unplug the decoder during a storm. Damage from lightning and other weather events is a separate fault and is quoted separately.

Loose loops and cable hanging within reach are the problem. We fix cable firmly along walls, avoid slack, and run exposed sections through conduit so there is nothing easy to grab.

An E48 error means the decoder isn't getting an adequate satellite signal. E48-32 is the weather-related version: heavy rain or a storm is weakening the signal, and it usually clears when the weather does. If it persists once the weather has cleared, the usual causes are a dish that has moved, a failing LNB, water in a connector or damaged cable — we test each to find which.

E16 usually points to a subscription or smartcard issue rather than your dish. Check your account at dstv.com or call MultiChoice on 011 289 2222. If the account is active and the error stays, get in touch and we'll check the decoder.

Yes. We design multi-screen setups for lounges, bars, bomas and staff areas, including long cable runs between buildings. Showing DStv to guests or customers is a commercial use, so check your account type with MultiChoice as well.

It depends on the day's bookings and how far out you are. Call or WhatsApp early and we'll tell you the soonest slot. For farms and reserves we usually agree a set day so the trip can be planned properly.
